From Miss to Mrs.

Two years ago today I went on my last first date. It was relaxed and fun, and yes that could have a little bit to do with all the beer & champagne we had. But I know it had a lot to do with the fact that Nate is hilarious, smart, and very interesting. It’s hard to get bored around him which is just one of the many reasons why I fell for him.

Two years ago I don’t think I imagined I would be where I am today. It really was the first day of the rest of my life, as cheesy as that sounds. But I hope this shows you that one day can change everything. If I had never responded to Nate’s OKCupid email we may have never met, and life would be so much different. Sometimes it’s good to take that chance because something wonderful can happen!

Friday, I’m in love… with beer, whiskey, and Jon Hamm

It’s been a pretty interesting week here at the Zablan home. I started and stopped a cleanse, which was an interesting experience to say the least.. Nate bought a new mixer, so it’s been music all week long. (I’ve missed having my own personal DJ at home.) And after a few sick days I’m back to my old self and feeling better than ever just in time for this awesome weekend!

This is the weekend of booze & food. Tonight we’re going to a Yelp Elite Event in SE. I love Elite Events because I get a chance to try lots of new local things. Plus it’s all free. You really can’t go wrong with free food & drinks. Yelp is usually pretty generous to us Elite’s which makes me happy to be a part of the community.

Tomorrow we’re going to a private beer tasting event at Bailey’s Taproom in Downtown Portland. It’s one of my favorite bars in town because they have a top notch craft beer selection, the nicest staff, and a ton of board games. We bought tickets for the event through my work and it helps support the school’s scholarship fund. I will drink beer for the kids!

After we fill our bellies with beer, we’re heading to WhiskeyFest Northwest in the Pearl. I won a pair of tickets thanks to PDX Pipeline and we are so excited. I’ll try to remember to take lots of pictures and notes of the good things we drink. We’re pretty big whiskey fans, but honestly I don’t know as much about the stuff as I wish I did.

I don’t know if you love Jon Hamm as much as I do, but you should. This man is flawless. And after seeing his guest appearance on SNL this past weekend, I think I love him just a little bit more.

Part 1 & Part 2

Nate & I are just about 3 weeks away from our 1 year anniversary. I really can’t believe how quickly the year has flown by. This is what happens as we get older, right? Time just seems to fly by! We decided it would be fun to renew our vows at Voodoo Doughnut in SE. There’s nothing more Portland than getting re-married at a doughnut shop. I’m super excited because:

  1. I love weddings. And I feel like I get to cheat the wedding system by doing something like this. It’s awesome!
  2. Hopefully this will become a yearly tradition. (Next year, Elvis in Vegas!)
  3. I get to buy a pretty dress!

I’m looking forward to finding a little vintage dress to wear. Maybe something colorful!

Do you have any exciting plans for this weekend?

Be sure to follow me on instagram for all my adventures around PDX.

Around here lately…

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted but I’ve been busy with some pretty awesome changes & projects.

We still have about 5 months left on our lease, and even though we’re not sure if we’re gonna move, I’ve decided to finally start hanging up things. This is my first time doing embroidery and I’m in love. I have another hoop and will be doing a similar one for a friend that just got engaged. Who doesn’t love Harry Potter themed crafts?

Protein shakes have become a regular thing for me lately. I’m doing a 30 day detox and I have never felt better. I’m still juicing almost daily and I just started taking a barre class (which I’m pretty obsessed with). It feels so good to do something good for myself. Even though I do miss eating Taco Bell & pizza sometimes, I don’t miss feeling gross all the time.

I picked up this fantastic book at the library last week. It’s 500+ pages which can sometimes be a bit intimidating to read in 3 weeks, but I’m really getting sucked into the story. I love when you luck up at the library and find a book you really love. Our book club also decided on our next book and we’re going to be reading one of my favorites, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I haven’t read the book since high school, but it was pretty much my bible as a teenager. It will be really great to see how I react to it as an adult.

So many good things are happening around here now. I really can’t wait to share it all soon.
